McDonald’s Nutrition, Fact or Fiction
McDonald’s claims to be making strides in having more nutritious meals and healthier choices. The skeptic that I am tells me that this may be stretching the point of good nutrition. I’m not saying I don’t like a fish sandwich or an Egg McMuffin every now and then. But if I am focused on losing weight and getting healthy, I stay away from fast food.
In my book, Be Ye Encouraged-Simple, Time Tested Strategies for Lasting Weight Loss and Good Health, I give the plan that I followed six years ago to lose 75 pounds and it doesn’t include fast food, at least the kind we think of when we hear that term. The best “fast food” is found in the produce section of the grocery store or your local farmers market. Fresh fruits and veggies are the original, best “fast food” and they cost less than eating out. There are so many yummy choices and you can eat lots of them and not have calorie overload. Add some lean meat and whole grains and you’re set.
A salad off of McDonald’s menu is great, until you slather it with dressing. And a plain burger is okay until you add on the sauce and of course the french fries and soda. The calorie count is sky high.
Find your best food choices and options in natural foods and keep your fast-food-fix to a minimum for maximum good health.
